testimonials

“Stephanie is great at evaluating a student's musical capabilities and interests then adjusting lessons accordingly to make my kids lessons fun, yet challenging! She goes out of her way to learn my kids interests. When they started with her, they began learning and playing music they enjoyed listening to. I really love that approach! Stephanie is a talented musician but also highly skilled at teaching. She works well with families.”
Parent of Miss 7 and Mr 13
"Stephanie is clearly not only a guru on her instrument but is also eloquent as an educator. She brings the best out of my son and he thrives on her high expectations. I admire Stephanie's attention to detail because great technique is the foundation stone of great cello playing.

Stephanie is a legend beyond her years and we love her.”

frequently asked questions

We recommend a child is ready to begin lessons when they can focus on a task for 10 minutes as well as follow instructions, usually this is between 5 and 7 years of age. We always offer a trial lesson before starting the term to see how your child manages.

Practice needs to be a part of the family’s daily routine, try to pick a time that suits everyone (for example before dinner). We advise family members to stay with the child, praising the practice routine and encouraging fun little performances. Having a pre-set practice place in the house that their instrument and music stand can live makes setting up less daunting each day. Our minimum requirement is four practices a week, length depends on age and level.

Hired or own instrument, music stand, practice diary (we provide in the first lesson) and for cellists a stool that allows your knees to be slightly lower than your hips. Books will be discussed in the first lessons.

WA Music Co are our preferred strings shop who offer both purchasing and rental of instruments.

Ensembles provide an opportunity for students to feel a sense of community while building self-esteem and confidence. Playing in an ensemble is a different skill set to solo work. To become a well-rounded musician, it is important to be exposed to a variety of musical environments and experiences.
